Norway’s Oda raised about $151 million in funding at a $353 million valuation (down from $900 million in April 2021) from Kinnevik, Verdane, and Summa Equity. Prior lead investor SoftBank didn’t participate.

GoodLeaf Farms, a Canadian vertical farming company, raised US$150 million in funding co-led by McCain Foods and Power Sustainable Lios.

India’s HealthKart raised $135 million in Series H funding. Temasek led and was joined by Sequoia Capital India, Sofina, and IIFL Finance.

India’s DeHaat raised $60 million in funding co-led by Sofina Ventures and Temasek, joined by existing investors RTP Global Partners, Prosus Ventures, and Lightrock India.

Indianapolis-based Equinom raised $35 million in funding led by Synthesis Capital and joined by Praesidium, Bunge Ventures, BayWa, CPT Capital, and existing investors Fortissimo and Phoenix.

Poppi of Austin, Texas, raised $25 million in funding led by Cavu Consumer Partners.

San Francisco-based Black Sheep Foods raised $12.3 million in Series A funding. Unovis Asset Management led and was joined by Bessemer Venture Partners, AgFunder, and KBW Ventures.

Sound Agriculture of Emeryville, Calif., raised $75 million in Series D funding led by new investors BMO Impact Investment Fund and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

Chile’s NotCo raised $70 million in Series D1 funding led by Princeville Capital and joined by Bezos Expeditions, Tiger Global Management, and L Catterton.

Zoe, a British nutrition and health tracking application, raised £25 million (about $30 million) in funding. Accomplice led the round and was joined by L Catterton and investors Balderton Capital, Ahren, and Daphni.

Huel, a British maker of plant-based foods and nutritional powders, raised $24 million led by existing investor Highland Europe at a $560 million valuation.

ArkeaBio raised $12 million in seed funding led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

Eion of Princeton, N.J., raised $12 million in Series A funding. AgFunder and Ridgeline co-led, joined by Carbon Removal Partners, Mercator Partners, Orion, Overture, SLVC, Trailhead Capital, and Sibelco.

Mad Capital of Boulder, Colo., raised $4 million in seed funding led by Trailhead Capital, with participation from Bonaventure Capital, Homecoming Capital, Impact Assets, One Small Planet, Pelican Ag, Lacebark Investments, and other investors.

Egypt’s OneOrder raised $3 million in seed funding. Nclude Ventures led the round and was joined by A15 and Delivery Hero Ventures.

Second Nature Brands, a Madison Heights, Wis.-based portfolio company of CapVest Partners, acquired Brownie Brittle, a West Palm Beach, Fla.-based bakery serving restaurants and theme parks, from Encore Consumer Capital.

Keurig Dr Pepper agreed to acquire a 30% equity stake in Nutrabolt, the parent company of C4 Energy drinks, for $863 million. Sellers include MidOcean Partners.

Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning

San Diego-based Shield AI raised $60 million in new Series E funding from the US Innovative Technology Fund.

New York-based and Oslo-based Vic.ai raised $52 million in Series C funding led by GGV Capital and ICONIQ Growth with participation from Cowboy Ventures and Costanoa Ventures.

SafeAI of Santa Clara, Calif., raised $38 million in Series B funding from Builders VC, McKinley Management, the George Kaiser Family Foundation, Energy Innovation Capital, and Moog Inc.

Helm.ai of Menlo Park, Calif., raised $31 million in Series C funding led by Freeman Group and joined by ACVC Partners, Amplo, and strategic investors Honda Motor, Goodyear Ventures, and Sungwoo Hitech.

Israel’s ImagenAI raised $30 million from Summit Partners.

EnCharge AI of Santa Clara, Calif., raised $21.7 million in Series A funding led by Anzu Ventures and joined by AlleyCorp, Scout Ventures, Silicon Catalyst Angels, Schams Ventures, E14 Fund, and Alumni Ventures.

Deep Voodoo, an AI entertainment startup founded by “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, raised $20 million led by Connect Ventures, a partnership between CAA and NEA.

Pactum AI of Mountain View, Calif., raised $20 million in funding. 3VC led the round and was joined by NordicNinja VC, Maersk Growth, and existing investors Atomico, Project A, Metaplanet, and Taavet+Sten.

Alio.ai of Broomfield, Colo., raised $18 million in Series C funding led by the Widjaja Family Investment Office.

New York-based LexCheck raised $17 million in Series A funding led by the Mayfield Fund.

New York-based Retrain.ai raised $14 million in funding led by Radical Ventures.

Seattle-based Protest AI raised $13.5 million in seed funding co-led by Acrew Capital and boldstart ventures, with participation from Knollwood Capital, Pelion Ventures, Avisio Ventures, Shlomo Kramer, Nir Polak, and Dimitri Sirota.

Twelve Labs, a South Korean AI startup focused on video context, raised $12 million in new seed funding. Radical Ventures led and was joined by Index Ventures, WndrCo, and Spring Ventures.

New York-based Frame AI raised $7.6 million in funding. G20 Ventures led the round and was joined by Velvet Sea Ventures, ValueStream Ventures, FirstMark, and Greycroft.

Jerusalem-based Inxight raised $6 million in funding led by Champel Capital and Boresight, with participation from Aristagora VC, Brooks Capital, Open Valley, Gil Midyan, and other investors.

New York-based Sparrow raised $5.7 million in angel funding. The round was composed solely of angel investors and facilitated by the Keiretsu Forum.

Infinity AI of Los Altos, Calif., raised $5 million in seed funding led by Matrix Partners.

Jaid of London and New York raised £3 million ($3.7 million) in seed funding led by Sure Valley Ventures.

San Francisco-based UptimeAI raised $3.5 million in funding led by Emergent Ventures, with participation from YourNest Venture Capital and new investors Sharad Sanghi, AI Sprouts, and Venture Catalysts.

New York-based Recast raised $3.4 million in funding led by Lerer Hippeau with participation form Data Tech Fund, Vibe Capital, and Jonah Goodhart.

Gaia AI of Somerville, Mass., raised $3 million in pre-seed funding led by E14, with participation from Ubiquity Ventures, Space Capital and SOSV’s HAX.

Chicago-based Altris AI raised $1 million in funding led by Runa Capital with participation from Joint Journey, Pharmaceutical Company Farmak, Artesian, Brinc Limited, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Chicago Booth Angels.

Boston-based PaxeraHealth raised Series A funding of an undisclosed amount. The round was led by Sopris Capital.

WritePath of Taipei, Taiwan, raised an undisclosed amount of funding. The round was led by Mr. Alex Lee and Mr. Mark Chang.

Automotive/Autonomy/Mobility

Group14 Technologies of Woodinville, Wash., raised $214 million in new Series C funding from Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund, Lightrock Climate Impact Fund, Moore Strategic Ventures, the Oman Investment Authority, and Molicel.

PowerFlex Systems of Pasadena, Calif., raised $100 million in minority equity funding from Manulife Investment Management.

Sonatus of Sunnyvale, Calif., raised $75 million in funding led by Foxconn Technology Group.

Germany’s Customcells raised €60 million (more than $64 million) in Series A funding led by World Fund and joined by Abacon Capital, Porsche, and Vsquared Ventures.

Portland-based ZincFive, a developer of nickel-zinc-based energy storage systems, raised $54 million in Series D funding led by Helios Climate Ventures.

Element Energy of Menlo Park, Calif., raised $28 million in Series B funding led by Cohort Ventures, with participation from LG Technology Ventures, Edison International, Prelude Ventures, and Radar Partners.

Belgium’s Classified Cycling raised €22 million (more than $23 million) in funding led by Active Partners and joined by existing investor Bridford Investments.

New Zealand’s Partly raised $21 million in Series A funding led by Octopus Ventures and joined by Shasta Ventures, Square Peg, Blackbird, Ten13, Hillfarrance, and I2BF Global Ventures.

Loft Dynamics, a Swiss developer of VR simulation tech for helicopter pilots, raised $20 million from Craft Ventures, Sky Dayton, and Up Ventures.

Atlanta-based EnviroSpark raised $15 million in funding led by Ultra Capital, with participation from Frank Blake, Tim Tassopoulos, Mark Bonfigli, Dave Stockert, and Paul Bowers.

Carputty, an Atlanta-based fintech focused on automotive financing, raised $12.3 million in Series A funding co-led by Fontanalis Partners and TTV Capital.

Amsterdam-based Cargoroo raised €10 million (more than $12 million) in funding led by The Sharing Group and Participatiefonds Duurzaam Economie Noord-Holland (PDENH), which joined existing investor Fairtree Elevant Ventures.

Atlanta-based EnviroSpark raised $10 million in funding led by Ulta Capital.

New York-based Xeal raised a $10 million line of credit from Bridge Bank. The electric vehicle charging startup last month raised $40 million in Series B funding.

Natron Energy, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based maker of sodium-ion batteries, raised an undisclosed amount of funding from United Airlines Ventures.

Biotech

San Francisco-based Apogee Therapeutics raised $149 million in Series B funding co-led by Deep Track Capital and RTW Investments. Founded in 2020, Apogee is the first spinout company from Paragon Therapeutics.

Entact Bio of Watertown, Mass., raised $81 million in Series A funding co-led by Qiming Venture Partners USA and venBio Partners.

Copenhagen-based MinervaX raised €72 million ($77 million) in funding. The €22 million equity round was led by Trill Impact Ventures and Pureos Bioventures with participation from REPAIR Impact Fund, Sunstone Life Science Ventures, LF Investment, Wellington Partners, Sanofi Ventures, Adjuvant Capital, and Industrifonden. The European Investment Bank provided a €50 million loan facility.

Enveda Therapeutics, of Boulder, Colo., doing business as Enveda Biosciences, raised $68 million in equity and debt funding. Dimension Ventures led the Series B round, which included participation by multiple new institutional investors, including FPV, Jazz Venture Partners, Level Ventures, Amino Collective, Allen & Co., and Possible Ventures. All of Enveda’s current major investors, including True Ventures, Lux Capital, Wireframe Ventures, Hummingbird Ventures, and Two Sigma Ventures, also participated in the round.

Enlaza Therapeutics of La Jolla, Calif., raised $61 million in seed funding led by Avalon Ventures, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Frazier Life Sciences, and Samsara BioCapital.

SonaThera of South San Francisco raised $61 million in Series A funding led by ARCH Venture Partners.

Storm Therapeutics of Cambridge, England, U.K. raised $30 million in Series B funding co-led by M Ventures and Pfizer Ventures, with participation from Taiho Ventures, Cambridge Innovation Capital, Fast Track Initiative, UTokyo Innovation Platform, Seroba Life Sciences, and IP Group plc.

Anocca of Södertälje, Sweden, raised €25 million ($26.82 million) in venture debt. The European Investment Bank made the financing.

Amsterdam-based iOnctura raised €17.5 million ($18.77 million) in funding.

Protillion Biosciences of Burlingame, Calif., raised $18 million in Series A funding led by ARCH Venture Partners and Illumina Ventures.

Tel Aviv-based Pangea Biomed raised an additional $5 million in funding. The round was led by Danny Tocatly and NFX.

Parallel Bio of Cambridge, Mass., raised $4.3 million in seed funding led by Refactor Capital, with participation from Y Combinator’s Jeff Dean and Breakout Ventures.

ExploRNA Therapeutics of Warsaw, Poland, raised $813,578 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Climate Change

Air Products & Chemicals and The AES Corporation will form a joint venture, investing about $4 billion to build the largest U.S. green hydrogen plant.

Berlin-based Enpal raised €855 million (more than $908 million) in debt funding.

Canada’s Svante raised US$318 million in Series E funding led by Chevron and joined by existing investors Temasek, OGCI Climate Investments, Delek US, and Hesta AG. New investors include 3M Ventures, Full Circle Capital, GE Vernova, Japan Energy Fund, Liberty Media, M&G Catalyst, Samsung Engineering, TechEnergy Ventures, and United Airlines Ventures.

The Canada Public Sector Pension Investment Board is investing US$250 million into Norwegian wind farm equipment owner Havfram, which is majority owned by Sandbrook Capital.

DSD Renewables of Schenectady, N.Y., raised $155 million in debt funding.

Arcadia of Washington, D.C., raised $125 million in funding led by Magnetar Capital, with participation from Keyframe Capital and Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group.

London-based Sun King raised $70 million in Series D extension funding led by LeapFrog Investments.

Tepeo, a British designer of “zero emissions boilers,” raised £10.5 million ($12.7 million) in Series A funding. BGF led and was joined by Clean Growth Fund, Bonheur, and Renewable Environmental Investments.

Madrid-based Samara raised €4.5 million ($4.88 million) in seed funding led by Seaya and Pelion Green Future.

Seattle-based First Mode agreed to combine the carbon reduction startup and Anglo American’s nuGen zero emission haulage technology effective in 2023, as Anglo American invests $200 million in First Mode, valuing the combined business at $1.5 billion.

Kodama Systems of Sonora, Calif., raised $6.6 million in seed funding co-led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Congruent Ventures, with participation from Shorewind Capital, MCJ Collective, Alumni Ventures, Climate Capital, and Tahoe Fund.

France’s Everimpact raised €1.7 million ($1.8 million) in seed funding led by Motion Ventures.

Cybersecurity

San Diego-based Drata raised $200 million in Series C funding co-led by ICONIQ Growth and GGV Capital, valuing the startup at $2 billion.

Boston-based Snyk raised $196.5 million in Series G funding led by the Qatar Investment Authority. Other investors include Evolution Equity Partners, G Squared, Irving Investors, and existing investors Boldstart Ventures, Sands Capital, and Tiger Global.

Malwarebytes of Santa Clara, Calif., raised $100 million from Vector Capital.

VMRay of Bochum, Germany, raised $38 million in Series B funding led by Tikehau Capital, with participation from NRW.BANK, Gründerfonds Ruhr, eCAPITAL, and Gründerfonds.

Pangea Cyber of Palo Alto, Calif., raised $26 million in Series B funding. GV led and was joined by Decibel, along with Okta Ventures, with existing investors Ballistic Ventures and SYN Ventures.

Rezonate, a cloud identity protection startup with offices in Boston and Israel, raised $8.7 million in seed funding. Flybridge Capital Partners and State of Mind Ventures co-led, joined by toDay Ventures and Merlin Ventures.

Interpres Security of Charleston, S.C., raised $8.5 million in seed funding led by Ten Eleven Ventures.

FireTail of McLean, Va., raised $5 million in funding led by Paladin Capital Group, with participation from Zscaler, General Advance, Secure Octane, Ely Kahn, Mark Arena, and Josh Lospinoso.

Balance Theory of Columbia, Md., which offers a cybersecurity collaborative workspace, raised $3 million in seed funding led by DataTribe.

Proofpoint of Sunnyvale, Calif., acquired New York-based Illusive. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to close by January 2023, subject to customary closing conditions.

Digital Health

Komodo Health, which has offices in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago, received a structured equity infusion of about $200 million from Dragoneer Investment Group and Coatue Management.

Atlanta-based Azalea Health received $45 million in a syndicated debt facility. The financing was provided by CIBC Innovation Banking.

Monarch Medical Technologies of Charlotte, N.C., received a $5 million investment from Semler Scientific.

Communications

Shield, an Israeli communication compliance platform, raised $20 million in Series B funding. Macquarie Capital led the round and was joined by UBS, Mindset Ventures, and OurCrowd.

Expeto, a Canadian private mobile network management startup, raised US$13 million in Series B funding. Sorenson Capital led and was joined by 5G Open Innovation Lab, Samsung Next, and Mistral Venture Partners.

Toronto-based Shabodi raised US$10.3 million in Series A funding. CEAS Investments and SineWave Ventures co-led, joined by Blumberg Capital, Counterview Capital, 5G Open Innovation Lab, Green Egg Ventures, Maccabee Ventures, and Supernode Ventures.

Robotics

Germany’s Fruitcore Robotics raised €23 million ($24.5 million) from Capricorn Partners, KOMPAS, XAI technologies, UVC Partners, Matterwave Ventures, CNB Capital, and btov Private Investor Network.

Munich-based Robco raised €13 million ($14 million) in Series A funding led by Sequoia Capital and joined by Kindred Ventures and Promus Ventures.

Copperstone Technologies of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, raised US$5.8 million in funding led by WindSail Capital Group. The investment unlocked support from the Alberta Jobs & Growth Program and the Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator for $2.3 million in additional capital.

Software

San Francisco-based Ngrok raised $52 million in Series A funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and joined by Coatue.

Sweep raised $28 million from existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and Insight Partners.

New York-based Fleek raised $25 million in Series A funding. Polychain Capital led and was joined by Protocol Labs, Arweave, Coinbase Ventures, Digital Currency Group, North Island Ventures, Distributed Global, The LAO, and Argonautic Ventures.

Trilio of Framingham, Mass., raised $17 million in Series B funding led by SKK Ventures with participation from T-Mobile Ventures, Wayra Telefónica Innovation, Raiven Capital, Genesis Accel, .406 Ventures, and Jack Egan.

Makers, a London-based coding boot camp, raised £7 million ($8.43 million) in funding. Business Growth Fund led the round and was joined by Forward Partners and Educapital.

Virtualness of Menlo Park, Calif., raised $8 million in seed funding led by Blockchange Ventures with participation from Polygon Ventures, F7 Ventures, Micron Ventures, Better Capital, FalconX, Impact Venture Capital, Neythri Futures Fund, Oceans Ventures, Perot Jain, VC3 DAO, Carolyn Everson, Randi Zuckerberg, Nusier Yassin, Nikki Farb, and Stacy Brown-Philpot.

Tel Aviv-based Axiom raised $7 million in seed funding led by S Capital.

Boston-based Foundation Devices raised $7 million in seed funding led by Polychain Capital, with participation from Greenfield Capital, Lightning Ventures, Third Prime, Warburg Serres, Unpopular Ventures, and Bolt.

San Francisco-based CtrlStack raised $5.2 million in seed funding. Sequoia Capital and Engineering Capital co-led, joined by Kearny Jackson, Webb Investment Network, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

London-based Komi, a website builder tool for celebrities and influencers, raised $5 million in seed funding led by Contour Venture Partners.

Spike of Palo Alto, Calif., raised $700,000 in pre-seed funding led by Geek Ventures, with participation from CEAS Investments and APX.

Tech Torch of Woodside, Calif., received an investment from DynPro.

Semiconductors

Frore Systems of San Jose, Calif., raised $116 million from the Mayfield Fund, Clear Ventures, Addition Financial Credit Union, and Qualcomm Ventures.

NeuReality of Israel raised $35 million in Series A funding from Samsung Ventures, Cardumen Capital, Varana Capital, OurCrowd, XT Hi-Tech, SK Hynix, Cleveland Avenue, Korean Investment Partners, StoneBridge Ventures, and Glory Ventures.

World Micro Components of Roswell, Ga., raised $18.1 million from Main Street Capital Corporation.

Quadric of Burlingame, Calif., raised an additional $10 million in debt and equity funding. Xerox Ventures and Mesh Ventures are the latest investors to back Quadric’s processor architecture, joining existing investors DENSO, MegaChips, Leawood Venture Capital, Pear VC, Uncork Capital, and Cota Capital.

Phlux Technology secured £4 million (nearly $5 million) in seed funding round led by Octopus Ventures and joined by Northern Gritstone, the Foresight Williams Technology Funds and the Innovation Fund, plus the Innovate UK agency (which, as part of UK Research and Innovation, provides funding and support for business innovation). A spinout of Sheffield University, Phlux has used its in-depth research into semi-metal element antimony to develop what it says is a unique, patented approach to infrared sensors to dramatically improve their performance in light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems.

New York-based Xscape Photonics raised $10 million in seed funding from Altair.

Intchains Group of Shanghai, China, plans to have an IPO in January of 2023, potentially raising $30 million.

The Final Frontier

Slingshot Aerospace of El Segundo, Calif., raised $41 million in Series A2 funding. Sway Ventures led and was joined by C16 Ventures, ATX Venture Partners, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, and Draper Associates.

Quantum Space of Rockville, Md., raised $15 million from Prime Movers Lab.

Electronics

Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development raised $500 million in a corporate round from Foxconn Technology Group.

Pragmatic Semiconductor of Cambridge, England, U.K., raised $35 million in additional funding. Backers include British Patient Capital and In-Q-Tel with participation from Prosperity7 Ventures, the North East Development Capital Fund, and the Finance Durham Fund.

Odds and Ends

Boston-based Enthea, a provider of insurance plans for psychedelic healthcare, raised $2 million in seed funding led by Tabula Rasa Ventures. The company intends to use the funds to launch its services into 40 markets across the U.S. next year, as well as grow its customer base and provider network.

Empatica, a Boston-based developer of remote patient monitoring tools, raised an undisclosed amount of Series B funding co-led by Sanofi Ventures and RA Capital Management. An SEC filing from August showed $25 million committed of a round that could hit $34 million.

Ganymede Bio of Palo Alto, Calif., founded in 2022, raised $12.75 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Caffeinated Capital. The startup intends to use the funds to support the ongoing development of its cloud-native data platform, cloud IDE, and self-service tooling.

SaVia, a Salt Lake City-based provider of clinical support software, raised $8.5 million in seed funding led by Intel Capital.

Miami-based National Cycle League raised $7.5 million in seed funding led by Will Ventures with participation from Founder Collective, Collab Capital, Impellent Ventures, Bradley Beal, Jalen Ramsey, Derwin James, Kevin Byard, Casey Hayward, Michele Roberts, Rachel Lindsay, and Emmanuel Acho. The company intends to use the funds to support the development of its technology platform, which seeks to deliver interactive access to pro athlete biometric and performance data for consumer applications in real time.

Fundraising

Thoma Bravo raised $32.4 billion for three funds; Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund secured $17 billion in a loan from U.S. banks and other lenders; TA Associates is raising $16 billion; TDR Capital raised €4.2 billion (about $4.5 billion); Searchlight Capital Partners is raising $4 billion; Alpine Investors is raising $3.8 billion; General Atlantic raised $3.5 billion for two funds; LLCP is raising $3.3 billion; Albacore Capital Group raised €2.2 billion ($2.36 billion); One Peak raised $1 billion; and BRV Capital is raising $1 billion.
